Mandalas

In our 8th grade Graphic Design class, students created some really interesting Mandalas. Mandala means "circle" or "completion" in the Sanskrit language. Click here for the Wikipedia link. The students viewed many samples of Mandalas. They were also given a very comprehensvie hand-out illustrating step-by-step the process. Students were first instructed to find images that reflected their interests and hobbies. The mandalas were to be very autobiographical.

Through the process, students really have come full circle (no pun intended) with their knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. They are beginning to master the layers, cutting, pasting, and precison of the various selection tools. Click on any of the images to enlarge.

The blog looks great! I like the awesome one with the frog girl and the green background. Whoever made it's a genius.
