Famous Artwork...one square at a time!

This year, 6th grade students had a chance to recreate a famous artwork. Each class had their own artwork to recreate. One at a time, the students randomly selected a 1" square piece of a painting that they were instructed to recreate with colored pencils on a larger square piece of white paper. Eventually, the overall artwork was revealed to the students as the squares got completed and assembled together. Most students were able to complete 2-3 squares in each piece of artwork. This activity strengthened the students' observational skills, visual perception and analysis of shapes and colors, as well as colored pencil techniques.
Do you recognize these paintings?
